VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.2
You can install VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.2 as a new release or perform a sequential or skip-level upgrade to
VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.2.
Installing as a New Release
The new installation process has three phases:
• Phase One: Prepare the Environment: The Planning and Preparation Workbook provides detailed information about
the software, tools, and external services that are required to implement a Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) with
VMware Cloud Foundation, using a standard architecture model.
• Phase Two: Image all servers with ESXi: Image all servers with the ESXi version mentioned in the Cloud Foundation
Bill of Materials (BOM) section. See the VMware Cloud Foundation Deployment Guide for information on installing
ESXi.
• Phase Three: Install Cloud Foundation 5.2.2: See the VMware Cloud Foundation Deployment Guide for information
on deploying Cloud Foundation.

What's New
The VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5.2.2 release includes the following:
• The Bundle Transfer Utility group in the Broadcom Support portal is replaced by the VCF Download Tool
group that includes both the Bundle Transfer Utility (lcm-bundle-transfer-util ) and the VCF Download Tool
(vcf-download-tool ).
• Support for transitioning clusters from vSphere Lifecycle Manager baseline-managed to vSphere Lifecycle
Manager image-based: VCF users now can transition the cluster lifecycle management from baselines to images by
using a PowerShell script or the SDDC Manager API.
New URL and Authentication Method for the VMware Depot
You connect to the VMware Depot to download installation, upgrade, and patch bundles using the:
• SDDC Manager UI
• Async Patch Tool
In March 2025, Broadcom introduced changes to the VMware Depot URL and authentication method. In order to
download bundles, you must update your environment to access the new URL using the new authentication method. See
KB 390098 for details.
